Pocket RPGs that respect your time
RPGs and mobile phones have an awkward relationship. The genre loves long sessions and slow builds, while the phone lives in short bursts. The good ones find a way to bridge that gap.
Hollow Reign is our current favourite example. It gives you real build choices and tactical combat, but every encounter is short enough to fit between other things. You can make a meaningful decision in two minutes and then put the phone away.
The trap to avoid is any RPG that pads its runtime with repetitive fights just to stretch the hours. We'd rather a tight twelve-hour story than a bloated fifty-hour grind that forgets to be fun.
When we test an RPG we look at how it feels after a week, not an hour. Does it still respect the time you give it, or has it quietly turned into a chore? The ones on our site passed that test.
