Five racing games made for a short commute

May 16, 2026 · Mikael Sorensen

Not every racing game fits a bus ride. Some want twenty-minute sessions and a steady grind before they get fun. These are the ones we keep installed because they deliver a clean hit of speed and then let you go.

Dust Circuit tops the list for us — its races are short, its drifting is instantly satisfying, and you can finish a track before your stop. The scrappy off-road handling means even a messy run feels exciting instead of frustrating.

Our rule for commute racers is simple: fast loading, forgiving save points, and controls that work with one hand if you're holding a rail. Anything that punishes you for closing the app mid-race gets dropped fast.

If you only have a few minutes at a time, pick a game built around races you can actually complete. A beautiful racer you never finish is worse than a plain one you do.
